Eat. Sleep. Code.

There are 1.1 billion people in the world without clean drinking water. Meanwhile, billions of gallons of freshwater disappears uselessly into the ocean, the result of icebergs that break off from the ice caps of Greenland and melt into the salty mix.

Do you spot an inefficiency in the system here?

So did French engineer Georges Mougin. And that’s why he’s invented a system for towing icebergs across the ocean and straight to the world’s thirsty. Using 3-D technology, recently declassified satellite data, and the new science of oceanic forecasting, Mougin has created an elaborate method for hauling ginormous icebergs using a “skirt” and a tugboat.

Most People Are Good

I really love this post. (click the link)

Sometimes I feel silly for striking up a conversation with a barista or complementing a stranger on a fashion accessory. But I’m secure in who I am, and if you never talk to strangers, you miss out on so many opportunities to learn about the world around you. I’m not being fake, condescending, or stupid; I’m simply reaching out in an effort to reciprocate the the generosity I’ve been shown. Encounters with “strangers” have always been the best reinforcement of my belief in humanity.

“Giving is a wonder drug. You are only alive in the moment of giving and sharing.”—Tim Sanders

I call it a gif as in gift without the t. And so does everyone I know. And as a Graphic Deisgn major at an art school, the term does come up frequently so I promise when I say everyone, I’m talking about a large pool of people and not just 2 friends. And they all say gif with a hard g. So really I’m always baffled by how people decide on jif. Not trying to sound pretentious, just honestly curious cause I had never heard jif til very reccently.
Regional thing maybe? Idek.

I say .gif as “gift” too and I don’t go to art school. I do see how it could be said as “Jif.” I’d say it was a regional thing.

This goes out to all of my friends who thought I was an idiot for pronouncing it “jif”. Read the link. I’m right. End of story.
